In brief Edie Sedgwick was an 1960's "it girl", she was an actress, model, socialite and heiress.
She created a buzz with her wild antics and adventurous style.
Born in 1943 she sadly died in 1971 due to a medication overdose mixed with alcohol. A dangerous concoction that took the lives of quite a few stars.
This trend seems to have devastatingly continued taking some of our most loved celebrities.
She suffered alot of illness in her youth from a eating disorder to being diagnosed with a mental illness resulting in her being admitted to several psychiatric hospitals.
She modelled for Vogue in 1965 but it didn't progress into more features as she was associated with the drug scene.
Andy Warhol is accused of being the reason she became mentally ill and involved with drugs but records show she was diagnosed as being ill before they had met.
Her eye make-up was very strong and copied by many, her bleached hair, heavy make-up and lean body made her stand out and immediately become an icon.
Her make-up is of a similar style to Twiggy, obviously it was a look that really took hold in the 60's that sharp crease and pale lip. A look that is repeated even today!
My look.
I turned this into a black and white image to get a vintage feel.
Edie wore long earrings which complimented her short pixie hairstyle.

I adore Edie Sedgwick! I picked up Factory Girl on dvd years ago thinking it was something else and have been in love with her since! I find her life story such a sad one and can't help but cry every time I watch the film! I've bought a few 'biographies' which have been written about her by people who knew her and her family!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a pair of Ray-Ban White on Black Wayfarers for sale on my blog so please take a look :) xx
Wow Carly. Absolutely love the look.
ReplyDeleteI love the effect of the eyes with the liner shaped that way.
Great job.
