Today I purchased a few things from Maxfactor as I am impressed by the selection at the moment. Usually it all seems pretty dull and standard but seeing the advertisement of these lip tints sent me on my way pennies in hand.
Disappointingly you won't find these in every store which stocks Maxfactor, 2 of my local boots didn't hold the lip pens but surprisingly Superdrug had most of what I was looking for.
Reading reviews of M.A.C's lip stain pens I felt a little apprehensive about the durability and finish of this product. Those who purchased the M.A.C version said it was awful on any sign of dry lips, they mentioned it wore off looking patchy and lacked pigmentation. Putting all the these disadvantages aside I bought the Maxfactor one and have been pretty pleased.
I originally wanted the darker pink but only shade 3 was available. The nib of the pen is very sturdy obviously like a felt tip making application a doddle. You can really achieve a precise line and the beauty is you don't need a bunch of products. It is quite a watery consistency but contained plenty pigment.
I wanted to see what it looked like after an hour, I wanted to see if I would be left with an awful ring around the outside where the middle has faded or if it settled into lines and cracks. It did neither in fact my lips felt quite soft even after it had worn off.
It has a fairly pleasant odor, almost fruity and the taste is not too bad. I must admit I deliberately licked my lips and drank alot to test the wear of this so I think in normal circumstances it would last a little longer.
What it looked like on
This looked a little darker on so if you aren't a fan of heavy lips choose the lighter pink although I read a review that it didn't last long which I would say is pretty normal.

5/5
It applied evenly, didn't look heavy and wore off nicely. This is going to be a handbag essential of mine and I'm definitely getting the darker one.
Have you tried the Lipfinity lip pen?

i love these, they feel likereal markers! xx
ReplyDeleteI wish Max Factor was available in Canada so I could try these. I have had horrible luck with the Revlon and Cover Girl stains - didn't try the MAC. Glad you found a stain that works!

ReplyDeleteLovely review, I wanted to try these, but I wasn't sure it they would be drying. They look and sound great, I'll have to go on a hunt for them :)
ReplyDeleteI bought a red one of these-I think it's number 9? I like the fact that it's easy to be precise with it being a more obvious colour an I don't need a lipliner. It lasts a lot longer on me than red lipstick as well so it's great for nights out :) x
ReplyDeleteI really do want to try this !
ReplyDeletehow many shades are there in uk? here in Spain there are only 4. i bought the nº3
