NYX REVIEW

It was YouTube that first introduced me to the exciting make-up brand NYX. All the videographers in America used the products and I was insanely jealous that we couldn't get them here.

They would all use the cult favourite 'Milk' jumbo pencil as a base before applying eyeshadow to make colours pop.

I'm very pleased that we can now get hold of them here in the UK over at  www.nyxcosmetics.co.uk or Urban Outfitters.

It's my first encounter the brand so I have no bias opinions regarding the review. There's some products I am in absolute love with and others that aren't quite my cup of tea.

Watch the review

The long lip pencil

(Top - Pinky, Bottom - Coffee.)

These are fantastic, as the name suggests the pencil is very long so you get a good amount of product.I like to wear thins with Pink Caramel sheer lip gloss.

Price £2.95
Application - Very smooth and creamy, no drag or scratch sensation.
Colour payoff - Very pigmented. Would use this as a matte lip colour as it provides great coverage.
Scent - None
Shade - (Pinky) A bright pink. (Coffee) A warm brown
Packaging - As you would expect from a lip pencil but the extra length equals extra product.
Overall - One of my favourite items form the collection. Pinky is a must have for those who love fuchsia lips.

Sheer Tube Gloss - Pink Caramel

 (Shade-Pink Caramel)

Another favourite from the collection, this is the gloss version of my all time love MAC Girl About Town. Packed with colour it brings the lips to life but is not for the timid.

Price - Was £6.95 Now £4.52
Application - It applies very smoothly with the brush applicator.
Colour Payoff - There's nothing sheer about this product it is very concentrated.
Scent - Amazing, smells like sweet bubblegum.
Shade - Fuchsia pink
Packaging - Simple and quite pretty, I like how its slim making it pocket friendly.
Overall - I need a back up of this. Love

Mega shine lip gloss - La La

(Shade - La La)

Price £6.95
Application - The tapered applicator sponge makes applying easy.
Colour payoff - Light coverage, more sheer than above but contains slight sparkle.
Scent -Delicious like fizzy cola bottles
Shade -A light pink, quite subtle.
Packaging -Standard style lip gloss but I love the cute bow detail on the wand top.
Overall - Great lip gloss for a soft pink glossy lip. Wearable for day or dot into the middle of a bright pink lip for an evening look. Great consistency, doesn't feel sticky at all.

Lip Smacking lip colour

(644 Spellbound)

(640 Fig)

(637 Rose)

Price £4.95
Application - As the consistency is very creamy it is difficult to get a precise line around the lips. Using a lip brush works great.
Colour payoff - Pigmented but soft as they provide a satin finish.

Scent -Minimal, slightly fruity.
Shade - Spellbound - Soft pink, Fig - Deeper pink, Rose - Coral pink.
Packaging -Standard round casing, stylish and simple.
Overall -Very moisturising, I would use these on Bridal clients as they're soft and natural looking. The creamy texture provides a slightly glossy look.

Black Label lipstick

 (Orchid)
(Cherry)

Price £8.95
Application -Again very creamy so applies well but getting a defines lip needs a brush.
Colour payoff -Medium coverage, provides a good amount of pigment but due to the creamy finish it is softer than it looks in the bullet.
Scent -Amazing, again like bubblegum

Shade - Orchid - a pretty lilac with fuchsia tones. Cherry - a deep red that applies like a sheer cherry colour.
Packaging - A square shape casing with lace print detail on the label. Very cute.
Overall - A little more expensive than the lipsticks above, the consistency is very similar it's just the scent and packaging that differs. Orchid is a great colour for a wearable purple lip.

 Jumbo Lip Pencil
 (724 Chaos)

Price £4.95
Application -Pencil style lipstick makes application easy, if you can use a crayon you can use this.
Colour payoff - Very pigmented, satin finish.
Scent - Has a slight waxy smell in the pencil but on the lips is smells pretty much odour free.
Shade -Chaos - A deep burgundy. Comparable to MAC Diva lipstick
Packaging -Pencil style packaging, very simple and clean.
Overall -Applies nicely and feels moisturising on the lips. Remove excess with a tissue for a stained effect. Forget MAC Diva lipstick, buy this instead.

TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT
This is the Jumbo Eye pencil in Cherry £4.95, looks great on the lips. Great colour and finish, feels creamy without looking glossy.

Lip gloss palette in 03 Perfect everyday colours

(03 Perfect Everyday Colours)

Price £9.95
Application - Applies easily with finger or brush (provided)
Colour payoff - Very sheer
Scent -Light fruity scent
Shade - Labeled 'Every day colours' very light and natural shades of pink and neutral.
Packaging - Black case holding 5 shades, portable and neat.
Overall - A product I wouldn't purchase, I wasn't overwhelmed by this at all. I would much rather buy two of the pigmented lip glosses rather than this. A little weak in my opinion

Lip Lacquer pot

 (Love in Paris)

Price £5.95
Application - Apply with finger
Colour payoff -Looks very white in the pot but rubs into a highlighted shimmer
Scent -None
Shade - Love in Paris. Packed with fine glitter making it a pretty gloss or highlight
Packaging -Small round pot with black lid.
Overall - The product is a little sticky in the container so only a small amount is needed. I used it in the center of my lips to give an illusion of a fuller lip. Can be used on its own or over lipstick/gloss.

What I'd buy
Long Lip Pencil's
Sheer Gloss
Mega Shine lip glosses
Jumbo lip and eye pencils.

All the above is discounted further when purchased before June the 5th

  3. I have the Chaos lip pencil & mine is a very orange toned pink (same number too). I wonder if the UK colors are different? I have it swatched in my February Ulta review/haul if you wanted to check it out. Very strange

  7. I love that LaLa color. You said it didn't have a lot of color to it, but it looks pretty colorful to me in the photo. Did you have something underneath it to add to it? If so, what was it?
