Life if full of unexpected twists and turns. You never really know whats round the corner,on Saturday I was wishing I could go to fashion week then Sunday morning I was on my merry way to the fashion capital London. The talented and gorgeous Lisa Eldridge invited me to go backstage at the Osman show to watch how it all works so I can pursue my career in this field.
I was nervous and extremely excited to get an insight backstage in the fashion world, I arrived to Sommerset house to a sea of flamboyant and glamorous people. The models looked beautiful without any make-up, they have an incredible aura about them. They enter the room with presence and confidence instantly making them the focal point.
As soon as the models arrived they were invited to indulge in a Gankin massage performed by the Suqqu massage therapists to give their skin a healthy toned appearance. The Gankin is a deep penetrative massage that lifts and loosens muscles whilst draining any toxins for a fresh look.
Once the massage was completed they were taken to the make-up or hairdressing chair, it was pretty much a gamble as to where they would go as each team obviously wanted to complete as many models as they could in time.
The team Lisa had were fantastic, they were professional, calm and lovely to chat to. They could have easily thought who's this plonker but they made me feel at ease and welcome. Lisa demonstrated a look on one of the models before they all started. The look definitely matched the brief, the eyes were a deliberately less than perfect smokey eye taking the grey from the lid to the brow and around the lower lash line. To keep the look modern and edgy no mascara was used and only a touch of the Suqqu gel eyeliner was used in the waterline. The skin was kept light and typically french with no bronzer and only very minimal contouring on the extremely pale models to keep them from look gothic, Lisa used the new Suqqu foundation and eyeshadow. On the lips they paled them every so slightly but wanted to maintain a natural look lip so a soft pink was dotted on with the fingertips.
The hair was sleek and glossy, they deliberated on the length and settled with the angled
bob and lash skimming fringe
The bob was shaped using clippers which I thought was brilliant.Luke Hersheson was head of hair and his team work brilliantly together. They had to smooth each models hair into a chignon and secure the black wig
which they did with ease.
The nails were painted a matte nude shade by David Barton and his nail team.
Overall I thought the look was chicgrunge, I love when 2 opposite trends merge together. The hair and make-up gave a modern twist to the beautifully tailored collection Osman had put together. The greys worked to perfection with the bright pops of colour on the garments and the fringe gave a dark mysterious look- I heart!
I am beyond grateful for this experience, it has given me the insight I needed to feel confident about the fashion show work. I totally wanted to get involved, it was extremely difficult to sit and watch and not pick up a brush :)
Lisa was an absolute delight to meet, she made sure I was getting involved and knew what was going on. She was brilliantly organised which made the whole experience so easy. I was expecting hair and brushes all over with half naked gazelles running from station to station. Not so, herself and Luke were in control like the true pros they are. I even got to watch the run through sitting in Vogues seats (wow hello!!) and the actual show which gave me goosebumps from head to toe.
I want to thank Lisa so much for an incredible day and to Ashleigh her amazing assistant who looked after me and kept things running on time. Watch Lisa's tutorials and keep up to date with her beautiful portfolio on her website
